RIP dad, who introduced me to this fairytail of everlastin life and paradise :(
by Frezia inless than 5 hours ago my great dad fell asleep the last time :( still in a bit of a shock and sad that i will not see him again...i promised myself that once he is here no more, i will somehow make my move out of this organisation who kept us all captive believing in a fantasy of an everlasting life :( i am in a tricky situation, since raised as jw, still in, married to an active jw, and pretty sure that all in my social and family circle will turn their backs on me if i finally say goodbye to a fairytail ;(.

i committed the unforgiveable sin

Growing up in an abusive environment is awful. But you can overcome this with time, distance, and help. I have been there and now lead a happy life free of that past.
But you seem more concerned with committing the "unforgivable" sin. I worried about this at one time. I am going to pass on what helped me gain some perspective. An elder told me that if you truly had committed the unforgivable sin, you would feel no remorse over it. You would not be feeling guilty and worried about eternal consequences. Since you have faith, you need to pray and ask forgiveness, and then forgive yourself! Coming from the background of abuse, that is not going to be easy...that's where counseling helps. Not counseling at the Hall, but with a trained professional.
My concern for you is that you are just going to give up. Please remember you are a worthwhile person. The people who have hurt you and abused you are not the ones you should be listening to. Take your dad's advice and get away from your mother. It will be hard, but you can do it! Keep coming here, read our stories and you will see many of us have shared this experience. We understand and are here to help.

I've know 3 in the '90's. The first was an extremely elderly gentleman who was still pioneering at 100 years of age. Very active, very sweet, spiritual, humble, sincere, and mentally there. The second was also an elderly man. He was in a wheelchair but was all there mentally. He was always willing to take the time to listen to anyone that needed grandfather's advice. Although he could be a bit feisty. The third was a woman with children and grandchildren in...pioneered well into her 70's. She was outspoken, and had no problem speaking up if she felt you needed to hear what she had to say.
What all three had in common was their humility and they all refrained from telling anyone they were anointed. Where I asked the sister about it, she explained that she was no better or moreprivileged than anyone else, her hope was just different. She couldn't explain how she knew, other than when she thought of paradise, she didn't see herself in an earthlike place. So nothing weird or crazy..

Dangerous "Pent up" feelings inside of most witnesses?
by stuckinarut2 ini have often wondered if there is more harm done to people who are stifled or smothered from expressing their natural conduct, feelings or actions because of it being condemned by religious ideals?.
so if a person keeps suppressing their real personality and tries to mould themselves to the "perfect" or "ideal" version as expected from those controlling them, could they eventually "bust" so to speak?.
for instance, witnesses condemn many forms of entertainment.

Sowhatnow, you expressed exactly how I feel. "I don't know who I am. Who I could have been, what I could have accomplished, what my likes are, etc." I sometimes feel so lost and overwhelmed by all the choices, possibilities, and all that could have been. So many times when someone asks what my preferences are, I truly have no idea. This can be frustrating and confusing for the people in my life...but my guy has been infinitely patient as I continue to grow and rediscover living.Link +3 / -0 -

being married to a jw, can sometimes make you crazy, i never believed any of the bs.

Struggling
by Alive! ini read here regularly and although i haven't joined in, i really appreciate all the wonderful contributions from those who are willing to share their experiences.... .
i was a convert.
i won't go into the whole history ( perhaps another day) - my story could easily be recognised in the small town where i live, with my husband.. so, we stopped going to the meetings around a period of time when we were going through severe emotional difficulties - at that point, we needed unconditional family love - the hectic, forced jw dinner parties and social occasions gave no real comfort.

Sick to my stomach

?i have only been on this site for a couple months, and dealing with all the reactions of jws to my being removed as a publisher(for the second time) and my husband being df'd.
lucky for me i have 2 sets of grandparents that still support my life whatever i do as well as some aunts uncles and cousins.

she passed faithful to the end to them!
by jookbeard injust found out (second hand of course) and by someone on here that my faithful jw mum passed away within the last couple of days, dont know the exact day, and what cause, she spent the last few years living with my fanatical sister, she was 65 and survived my father by 10 years, bitter, angry and hateful till the end and never as so much enquired or asked how her 2 grandchildren ever were , they are 5 and 7!
feeling a mixture of emotions right now, they were lousy parents in all honesty, she suffered health wise so maybe its for the best, dont even know when the funeral is!

I too wondered why they wouldn't release the requested information, VID mentioned ..potential evidence of other alleged criminal activities in the data that they don't want exposure of...
Could it be possible that someone from the GB might just be mentioned in one of those files as being accused of this heinous act? There is definitely something much deeper going on with this that needs to come to light.
